Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) is calling for votes to bag a share of Tesco’s carrier bag charge fund – the supermarket’s “Bags of Help” initiative.
Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects, and RATT is on the shortlist for the May/June vote.
Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to vote in-store for who they think should take away the top grant.
We have submitted a proposal for a small grant to enhance the RATTstage with a silent generator and an all-weather marquee-type stage covering, both of which will really help us supporting community events in local parks and schools.
David Head, Trustee at RATT said “I’m really pleased and grateful to Tesco for shortlisting RATT, the equipment will be invaluable and would really enhance our work. However we need the votes to come in for us to make sure we can buy both the generator and marquee, so get shopping and vote for us every time.”
Voting is open in stores throughout May and June. Shoppers should cast their RATT vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop. If you prefer, send your tokens to RATT at 3 Arnills Way, Kilsby, CV23 8UY and we’ll take them along on your behalf.
Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered over £28.5 million to more than 4,000 projects up and down the UK. Lindsey Crompton, Head of Community at Tesco, said “We are absolutely delighted to open the voting for May and June. There are some fantastic projects on the shortlists and we can’t wait to see them come to life in hundreds of communities.” To find out more visit www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp
