Once again Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) is delighted to have been invited to provide live music for this year’s Rugby Spring Fair. The fair, which takes place at Whitehall Rec on 01 May, is the town’s largest community event and has been organised for many years by a collaboration of several of the area’s Rotary Clubs.
“The debut of the RATTstage at the fair in 2016 was a great success”, said David Head from RATT, “It definitely adds to any event when there is live music and we’re really pleased to get the chance to perform again. We are proud to be involved and to support the Rotary Clubs.”
RATT is a small charity that supports young people from the borough who demonstrate talent, by providing performance opportunities and running a small grant programme. Giving the chance for gifted youngsters to perform in front of a big crowd is a perfect opportunity.
Live music at the event will run for 5 hours, starting at midday and culminating in a set from local covers band Last Lesson. At least 7 young singers will also have the chance to perform with the band as well as delivering their own set under the guidance of Duncan Arrow, RATT’s Musical Director.
The RATTstage will be bigger than ever before with the help of several local companies. Wood Street trucking company PTI Express (www.ptiexpress.com) are providing a full size articulated lorry trailer for use as a stage; sound and light is coming from DMX Stagetech; power units are being lent to us by OffGrid Energy; and transport is courtesy of Townsend Vehicle Hire. All of these supporters deserve a mention because without them the charity would struggle to put on such a professional show.
We can’t wait for the event. The combination of good crowds, community spirit and live music will produce a festival atmosphere and everyone in the town should come and enjoy the day.
